Volo's Guide to Monsters is the latest book to come out from Wizard's of the Coast for the 5th Edition of Dungeons & Dragons.
Within its well laid out pages players and dungeon masters alike will find many things to interest them.
The first third is devoted to helping you get to know a selection of monsters in more detail,
delving into the lore of such creatures as the Beholder, Kobold and Mind Flayer.
Next you'll find a variety of new races that players can use to, at last, create that monstrous adventurer they've always dreamed about.
There are full write-ups on such races as the Aasimar, Lidardfolk and the catlike Tabaxi.
Additionally, they've added a chart that provides the stats and abilities for a wide range of monsters,
such as Goblins, Kobolds, and Yuan-Ti, allowing you to convert them to PCs as well.
The last, and most sizable part of Volo's Guide is a Bestiary.
Within its pages you'll find a mix of familiar monsters, but new to 5E, such as the Bodak, Froghemoth and the Vargoille,
as well as unique new ones and variants on classic creatures, such as a Kobold Dragonshield or an Orc Blade of Ilneval.
Additionally, the appendix of the book contains new Beasts and NPCs to utilize in your games.
Volo's Guide to Monsters is a must have for any dungeon master serious about 5th Edition Dungeons & Dragons.
