(5E D&D) The Ballad of Loch Rannoch - Episode 1

    Livestream vor 16 Stunden
Centuries ago, bards and performers from all across the continent would come to Loch Rannoch to visit the shrines of the SEVEN SOUNDS.
These focal points of a mystical and powerful magic of song would grant those who mastered their secrets significant power and influence.
For others, the circuit around the lake would at least provide a story worth telling.

Now, however, the lands around the Loch have fallen into darkness and chaos, the knowledge of the songs has been lost,
and few dare to venture beyond the high walls and guarded docks of the last remaining city in the region, Braebaran.

Our party is a traveling performance troupe and the legends of the Ballad of Loch Rannoch have become too tantalizing to resist any longer…

    Party - Level 1
    GiGi: Gnome Rogue
    Kaz'ou: Drow Celestial Warlock
    Salem: Half Elf Wizard
    Thomas: Halfling Monk

      Live übertragen am 31.01.2018
      Session Two:
Our heroes approach a small fishing village, but before they arrive, they discover a drowning man in the loch.
GiGi and Thomas don't hesitate. They run to save him, and are surprised to find none other than Kaz drowning in the water,
but not their Kaz, another Kaz, and this one attempts to drown GiGi.
While he does this though, he calls out a warning to "beware the one inside the red..."
GiGi let's her friends know what she heard, and they discuss what it could mean.

Kaz wants to know more, but when he tries to approach the loch, something begins to strangle him, and Salem makes him stop.
When they reach the village, the party learns that another band of musicians bought everything the town had to offer.

Luckily, two hunters arrived in town just that afternoon with a big deer, but they believe in honoring their kill,
and won't sell the beast to someone who will die before eating it.
That would be a waste, so our heroes have to prove their worth to the hunters.

        Livestream vor 20 Stunden
        Session 3 Summary:
Brusa and Yoavarth gave our heroes four possible leads in their hunt for the Seven Shrines, along with what sort of danger awaits them, in each of these areas.
They also meet up again with Erin, the mother of six, whose husband ran away with all of her family's money.
They encouraged her to continue on with her store, and may have slipped a few coins her way to give her a bit of a head start.

Kaz confronted Salem about callousness, and two debated about morality in an adventure situation, meanwhile, Thomas and GiGi had a spy adventure
, learning that someone was plotting against them, planning to come after them that very night.
Salem's heart was touched by Erin, and unbeknownst to his companions, he made a visit to her shop, while GiGi made a few fishy birds an offer they couldn't refuse.
The group set up watch, knowing that some time in the night they might be attacked, and sure enough, during Kaz's watch,
the birds began to call a warning that someone was approaching...

            Session Five Summary:
The party taook a bit of time to examine the gnoll bodies left after their fight, and thanks to Salem's herbology classes,
they knew that the gnolls were infected with a fungus. As the party continued, it became apparent that the gnolls had lost their sentience.
The group follows the signs, and have to fight their way through a canyon lined with vines and gnolls, all infected with the same fungal infection.
Knowing that the infection is spread via airborne spores, the group constructs masks and head deep into a fungus lined cave,
believing that the source of the wild vegetation might just be the first of the seven shrines.

Within, the group found a gnoll shaman, whose dying wish was to see his totem one last time.
The party agreed to look for it, but while doing that, they ran into some trouble.
GiGi and Thomas were infected with spores, and only have about a day before they transform completely into fungus,
and some sinister telepathic entity wants to add the rest of the party to the collective, so the chase is on.
The party was left fleeing from small mushroom men, and the clock is ticking for GiGi and Thomas.

              Live übertragen am 20.03.2018
              Session Six Summary:

With myconids closing in behind and dangerous violet mushrooms up ahead, the party found itself trapped between two dangerous sets of adversaries,
and the situation grew dire as one after another the party members fell. While the enemies were defeated, Kaz found himself alone in the dark
with his unconscious team as the dust fell: well, not entirely alone. The spirit within Kaz's accordion was there to keep Kaz company.
They spoke together, and Kaz sang a beautiful song while he waited for his friends to wake up.

When the party reawakened, they were able to continue on the path in the hopes of finding the gnoll shaman's totem,
which they did, but Thomas was a bit over eager, and approached before he knew if it was safe. It was not.
Thomas found himself possessed by a demon, and he needed Kaz to help him escape the demon's illusions.
The party collected a few magical items along with the totem, which they returned to the shaman.
He was able to die in peace, and in return, the party was awarded with equipment to help them on their journey.

Thomas and GiGi are running out of time, as a fungal infection continues to ravage their small bodies,
so the party begins the race down to the shrine, hoping that the power they find within might just save them.

                Session Seven Summary:

The party discovers the corpse of a cleric of Aquas. The cleric's amulet pulls the party down the tunnel
where they discover a tainted water elemental imprisoned by runes.
They do their best to free the elemental, even speaking to it with the use of the amulet,
but in their attempt to set off the precarious rocks on the ceiling, they trap it in the chamber.

Defeated, they move on and are attacked by myconids and a gigantic mushroom infested gnoll.
The battle is nearly deadly, but the party prevails. The party scouts ahead and discover what they think to be the chamber of the shrine
which is defended by a mushroom giant. They decide to rest for the night before the battle commences, and knowing that if they fail,
Thomas and GiGi will die. They say their goodbyes, just in case, and prepare for battle.

The battle against the giant mushroom monster commenced, and in the end, they were able to prevail.
What they found of the shrine was a pool of silvery water, and when they dove in, they were blessed with the power of unity,
as the words, "heavy hangs the weight, about those chosen by fate" washed over them.
GiGi and Thomas were cured of the mushroom infection, and everyone in the party's wounds were healed.

Unable to forget the tainted elemental, the party hurried to free the creature.
From there the party left, only to discover that the wagon was missing, along with their employees.
There were no tracks, and no way of finding their people. They settled down for the night and were haunted by a mask.
The party was frightened by this entity, but Salem put it on, and realized that the missing people disappeared through a portal,
which he led the others through.

To save their NPCs, the party follow a magic mask into a strange shadowy dimension.
As it turned out, each NPC was trapped inside a moment in their life they conflicted about.
The NPCs believe that they can change those memories, and thus change their fate.
The party learn that Aria was cursed with an ability that saps the lives of others.
She was conflicted between the choice of killing herself as a baby, which would save all of her victims.
The party was not in perfect agreement, but they convinced the child to go on living.

The party attempted to help Riche next.
They learned that he was once empowered to make people happy, magically with music, but a demon stole that away from him.
He wanted to save himself from ever making the choice to trust the demon, but if he did that, he would be giving up Aria for his own happiness.
The party argued about what he should do. They questioned if it was moral for them to influence these important decisions or not.

The tension between Kaz and Salem also bubbled over into an argument, where some of their issues with another finally came out in a flash of anger,
which finally allowed them to get some closure. In the end the party was able to save each of their NPCs, and were ready to move on to the next shrine.

As the party continues to travel northwest in search of the second shrine, they find their pathway blocked by harpies.
Harpies are known for having mesmerizing voices beautiful enough to lure victims to their deaths.
The party took precautions against this, but quickly realized that the harpies were mute.
The same creature which stole Yoavarth's voice must have gotten to them as well.

The party tried to reason with the creatures, but when that became impossible, the party killed them all, but the fight was difficult,
and Salem used the Chimes of Abyssal Healing to save his friends. Unfortunately, a roaming frost giant heard the demonic music
and made his way down the mountain to crush the party for tainting his home.

Kaz was able to convince the giant that the party was not a group of demon worshippers, and he invited them to hunker down in his cave home
to avoid the approaching storm, which as it turns out is likely the creature that steals voices.
The party make to follow him, but their greed to get as much treasure as possible has left them travelling
through the icy winds and deep snows, hoping to escape.

The party took the frost giant up on his offer for shelter, and slipped into his cavern home,
knowing that should they displease him, they might wind up his next dinner.
While getting to know one another, the party learned that their host, Svain once lived in the very fort they're heading over to.
It was once a peaceful home to the giants, but they were deceived by the scions.
Wizards came and turned the giants into undead minions and used their magic to corrupt the power of the second shrine for their own uses,
but the spell proved too powerful for the mages, and their voices along with the power of the shrine were carried away in the wind,
leaving the scions' shades behind in the fort.
In order of the party to retrieve the power of the second shrine, they must call the power back and purify it.

The party spent the evening socializing, exploring dark memories, including a look into Salem and GiGi's pasts,
and Kaz sang to the little girl trapped in the locket, sending her off to sleep.
Thomas was worried about Aria going to a fort infested with undead, so it was decided that the cart would be sent back to town for supplies.
In the morning, GiGi performed for the giant on his sister's harp, which Kaz repaired and he was pleased enough to grant each of the party with a power.
They said their farewells and headed off, but were interrupted by a revenant version of Salem.

The party headed out to the frost giants' stronghold in the mountains, which held the second shrine, when a revenant version of Salem blocked their path.
He claimed to have belonged to another cycle in which his version of GiGi, Thomas and Kaz were all dead, and he absorbed them to make himself more powerful.
He wanted to make a deal with the party. He would help them reach the shrine if they helped him access the archives of the scions.
Salem spoke to him alone, but after deliberating, the group decided they could not trust him, and chose to pass him by without making a deal.

Using GiGi's knowledge of breaking into cities, the party slipped into the sewer, and found themselves under attack by oozes.
They were all injured, but finally prevailed. It seemed they'd saved themselves, but as soon as the last ooze fell, another foe arrived.
The party was surrounded by white dragons that froze the way out, trapping the party within.

Surrounded by white dragons, things looked rather dim for the party, but as his life energy was leaving him,
arcane engery exploded out of Salem, turning all of the dragons to ash. It was 'just a taste,' as the Revenant Salem explained.
The party carried on into the frozen keep, but their path was blocked by a great number of undead.
GiGi and Thomas disguised themselves as undead, and went scouting.

They found a room full of maps, copied a map of Loch Ranoch for themselves and with some searching,
discovered a book depicting mapping out the keep and its history.

Before GiGi and Thomas could return to the others, the zombies overheard Salem and Kaz
discussing chocolate milk, and whether or not it came from brown cows.
They swarmed the door, and while with some finesse, Thomas and GiGi were able to return to the others,
the party had been found out, and had to battle their way through all of the zombies.

In the fallout after the zombie fight, the party decided to split up. Kaz and Salem cleaned up the mess
Thomas and GiGi may or may not have been responsible for in the archives.

They were able to do a bit of bonding over music as they worked, meanwhile, Thomas and GiGi found themselves in a bit of trouble.
They found a shrine, and Revenant Salem found them. He wanted them to retrieve a stone for them, so that he could go home.
He said that the stone would corrupt our Salem, but that he was powerful enough to resist any further corruption.
GiGi was convinced, but Thomas was not so easily bought. He sent GiGi away, and turned Revenant Salem down.
He also told our Salem to leave. He didn't want Salem to be burdened by the stone, no matter how much power it promised.

From there the party continued to explore together, and found a giant zombie forever frozen in an unplayed game of chess.
The party played with him, and thanks to Salem's quick thinking, they were able to win.
