Pathfinder Unchained is Paizo's latest addition to their Pathfinder library and it offers significantly different takes on many of the core rules.
They've streamlined four classes and have provided variant rules for skills, alignment, magic items and combat.
Monster creation is made much easier with a creature building chapter incorporating templates from many of their books.
Unchained offers many nice adaptions and alterations to the Pathfinder Core system but many of these changes increase complexity and rely on prior knowledge,
making it seem to be for veterans only. I find it doubtful those veterans have not already come up with their own versions of the content in this book.
Those same veterans will likely be uninterested in the simplifying options as many enjoy Pathfinder because of its complexity and huge variety of choices.
In the end Pathfinder Unchained offers some interesting elements, and pieces many players could find a place for in their games,
but it largely splits its efforts between simplicity and complexity and I feel this book will ultimately serve neither camp well.
