Theater of the Mind Vs Miniatures and the Grid in RPG Games
The age old question to Mini or not to mini in D&D?
When I first began gaming with the D&D red box it was all Theater of the Mind style of game play.
Later we moved to the grid or battlemap, but still no miniatures. We used dice instead.
Later when pre-painted minis became a thing we started using them instead of the dice.
both styles of games have their advantages and disadvantages in a tabletop role-playing game.
Every RPG game group is going to have to figure out what works best for there style of game play.
