A Harp Twins original song! “Harp Reflections” is one of our favorite original songs to date.
Harp Reflections is an homage to our classical roots while displaying how much we have evolved and grown as artists.
We wanted Harp Reflections to be the musical embodiment of pure beauty and light.
We hope this song brings you peace, joy, and light this season and beyond.
"Ich kann freilich nicht sagen, ob es besser wird, wenn es anders wird, aber soviel kann ich sagen: Es muß anders werden, wenn es gut werden soll."
    Georg Christoph Lichtenberg (1742 - 1799)

Still Still Still - Winter Lullaby - Harp Twins, Camille and Kennerly

This is our arrangement of classic Austrian Christmas / winter lullaby “Still Still Still” – the 11th track of our WINTER LIGHTS album:

We filmed this video in the dead of winter, and it sure was cold!
When snow is coming, most people snuggle up for a day inside, but we grab our harps and head out to film!
It was snowing when we were filming, but don’t worry, no harps were harmed in the making of this video.
It is bittersweet that this is the last video we made while our beloved grandmother was still with us and able to watch us filming!
She sat in the van watching - with the motor running and the heated seat on - while we filmed.
We miss her so much but hope this honors her memory, too!
      LYRICS:
      Still, still, still
One can hear the falling snow
      For all is hushed
      The world is sleeping
      Holy Star its vigil keeping
      Still, still, still
One can hear the falling snow

      Sleep, sleep, sleep,
'Tis the eve of our Savior's birth
The night is peaceful all around you
      Close your eyes
      Let sleep surround you
      Sleep, sleep, sleep
'Tis the eve of our Savior's birth

      Dream, dream, dream
Of the joyous day to come
      While guardian angels without number
Watch you as you sweetly slumber
      Dream, dream, dream
Of the joyous day to come
      Still, still, still
One can hear the falling snow
"Ich kann freilich nicht sagen, ob es besser wird, wenn es anders wird, aber soviel kann ich sagen: Es muß anders werden, wenn es gut werden soll."

        LYRICS:
        Fall softly snow
        Blanket everything in purest white
        Fall softly snow
        Everything is holy here tonight
        Shepherd boy upon the hill
Bid your flock be very still
        Fall softly snow
        A child is born tonight

        Shine brightly star
Wisemen bearing gifts come from afar
        O Holy light
Brightest of them all, the Eastern Star
        Herald angels from on high
        Sing a tender lullaby
        Fall softly snow
        A child is born tonight

        The time is here
O Holy Night, the angels sing
        And from on high
        Heavenly hosts proclaim the King
In the manger by her side
Mary's eyes are filled with pride
        Fall softly snow
        Fall softly snow

The Christ child has just arrived
        Silent night
"Ich kann freilich nicht sagen, ob es besser wird, wenn es anders wird, aber soviel kann ich sagen: Es muß anders werden, wenn es gut werden soll."

AMAZING GRACE - harps and vocals - Harp Twins (Camille and Kennerly)

This is our new harp and vocal arrangement of arguably one of the most known and loved songs of all time, “Amazing Grace.”
Amazing Grace was written in 1772 by English poet, clergyman, and former slave ship master, John Newton.
Newton’s words describe the joy and peace of a soul uplifted from despair to salvation through the gift of God’s grace.

Interestingly, “Amazing Grace” is an autobiographical commentary on how Newton himself was spared from both physical and spiritual ruin.
It describes the joyful outcome of the tale of a defiant man who manages again and again to escape danger, disease, abuse, and death,
only to continue to return to his wicked ways. Before his conversion to Christianity, Newton had a sordid life, including an attempt to desert the Royal Navy,
becoming a servant of an abusive slave trader, and eventually becoming a slave ship captain.
He lived a life so depraved that even his rough shipmates found his behavior and language shocking.
However, in 1748 after believing he might not survive a violent storm off the coast of Ireland, Newton called out to God for mercy, which began his journey to Christianity.

After becoming an Anglican clergyman, he renounced his old ways and actively campaigned for the end of slavery,
writing works describing the depravity and horrors of the Slave Trade
. Close to Newton’s death in 1807, the act to abolish the Slave Trade finally became law and Newton,
who was almost blind and near death, “rejoiced to hear the wonderful news.”
Although not often done, we chose to sing all 7 verses that Newton wrote.

Some of our long-time supporters might have already heard our harp-only version of this song,
but we thought this powerful song of redemption and grace deserved a new harp and vocal arrangement for our new HARP REFLECTIONS album.

          Lyrics:
Amazing grace, how sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost but now am found
Was blind but now I see

’Twas grace that taught my heart to fear
          And grace my fears relieved
How precious did that grace appear
          The hour I first believed

Through many dangers, toils, and snares
          I have already come
’Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far
And grace will lead me home

The Lord has promised good to me
          His Word my hope secures
He will my Shield and Portion be
          As long as life endures

Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail
          And mortal life shall cease
I shall possess within the veil
A life of joy and peace

The earth shall soon dissolve like snow
          The sun forbear to shine
But God, who called me here below
          Will be forever mine

When we’ve been there ten thousand years
          Bright shining as the sun
We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise
          Than when we’d first begun
"Ich kann freilich nicht sagen, ob es besser wird, wenn es anders wird, aber soviel kann ich sagen: Es muß anders werden, wenn es gut werden soll."
          Georg Christoph Lichtenberg (1742 - 1799)

THE DAEMON LOVER (Scottish Sea Song) - Harp Twins, Camille and Kennerly

"The Daemon Lover" is an old Celtic Scottish Sea Song that many people call “House Carpenter.”
It is a jaunty yet haunting Scottish tale about love, lust, and loss.
Like so many fables and folktales, this song is a cautionary story about succumbing to the glamour and romance of darkness.
We knew we wanted to include a Scottish song in our new Harp Reflections album because while working on the album,
we found out a new bit of our ancestry that had been lost to time.
Our Aunt was recently doing ancestry research found that we had a line going directly back to Scotland!
It seems that our Norwegian family tried to hide this Scottish heritage.

            Lol, x2
Our grandma’s great-grandfather was Charles Muir Campbell.
Our aunt found copious amounts of history about Charles, including his own Wikipedia article,
which had information about his personal friendship with Abraham Lincoln.
We are wearing the Campbell clan colors (Black Watch) for our tam o' shanters and scarves.

            Lyrics:
Well met, well met, my own true love
Well met, well met, cried he
I've just returned from the salt, salt sea
And it's all for the love of thee

I could have married the king's daughter, dear
            She would have married me
But I have refused the crown of gold
And it's all for the sake of thee

If you could have married the king's daughter, dear
I'm sure you are to blame
For I am married to my house carpenter
And he is a fine young man

If you forsake your house carpenter
            And come away with me
I'll take you to where the grass grows green
On the banks of the sweet Willie

If I forsake my house carpenter
            And come away with thee
What have you got to maintain me upon
            And keep me from slavery?

I have six ships sailing on the salt sea
            A-sailing from dry land
And a hundred and twenty jolly young men
            Shall be at thy command

She picked up her poor wee babe
            And kisses gave him three
Saying stay right here with my house carpenter
            And keep him good company

They had not been at sea two weeks
I'm sure it was not three
When this poor maid began to weep
            And she wept most bitterly

O do you weep for your gold, he said
Your house, your land, or your store?
Or do you weep for your house carpenter
Who you never shall see anymore?

I do not weep for my gold, she said
My house, my land, or my store
But I do weep for my poor wee babe
That I never shall see anymore

They had not been at sea three weeks
I'm sure it was not four
When in their ship there sprang a leak
And she sank to rise no more

What hills, what hills are those, my love
That are so bright and free?
Those are the hills of Heaven, my love
But they’re not for you and me

What hills, what hills, are those, my love
That are so dark and low?
Those are the hills of Hell, my love
Where you and I must go
"Ich kann freilich nicht sagen, ob es besser wird, wenn es anders wird, aber soviel kann ich sagen: Es muß anders werden, wenn es gut werden soll."
            Georg Christoph Lichtenberg (1742 - 1799)
