Coriolis: A Song for Jarouma 01 (Sci-fi RPG, Actual Play)

    Am 06.08.2018 veröffentlicht
Join us on a journey to the world of Free League’s Coriolis and space station FS-7, orbiting the gas giant Xene in the Kua system.
Hjalmar plays the pilot Leila Hatami and Craig the technician Alam Dania, who are part of a team of researchers
contracted to install and oversee an experiment known as the “Jarouma pattern”.
They are still blissfully unaware of the roles they will play in events that will shake the Third Horizon to its foundations.

"By the Icons, it looks like we have succeeded. Readouts from quadrant 2 and 3 are confirmed.
Both frequencies align with the Jarouma pattern. Alam will attach the data dumps. But, we have grave news.
The mission is in danger. Weather is getting worse, and we’ve run into several incidents during the mission.
Two of our crew-members are hurt and simulations indicate that the shuttle may not hold up to the stress as we try to reach quadrant 4.
We pray to the Icons that this message will get through..."

    Recorded at: GothCon
Gamemaster: Rickard Antroia who has constructed the scenario and is one of the writers on the campaign module “Emissary Lost” to which this adventure is a prologue
"Ich kann freilich nicht sagen, ob es besser wird, wenn es anders wird, aber soviel kann ich sagen: Es muß anders werden, wenn es gut werden soll."

Here comes the conclusion to our first journey in Fria Ligan's Coriolis and the Third Horizon,
as well as the end of this prologue to the campaign "Emissary Lost".
Will the crew be able to repair the installations and get the data they need from each of the quadrants?
Or will the violent storms in the atmosphere of Xene claim their shuttle and all aboard?

"The hull groans from the stress as the shuttle descends into the growing storm.
The passengers hold on tight as Xene’s hurricane winds hit the hull and steering jets,
doing their best to push the shuttle back out into the dark void.

The pilot is focused on the flight control screens. Interfering noise washes over the internal speakers
as she bites down nervously on a piece of well-chewed tabak. – “We should be there now.
Check the sensors for any sign of the beacons. I need coordinates NOW, or this ride will end up in flames!"
"Ich kann freilich nicht sagen, ob es besser wird, wenn es anders wird, aber soviel kann ich sagen: Es muß anders werden, wenn es gut werden soll."

Memories are believed to be stored in two separate parts of the brain, the hippocampus and the amygdala.
While normal memories are stores in the hippocampus, the amygdala, which is an emotion center, is where memories created by traumatic events live.

If you are the victim of violence and your brain and hippocampus has been damaged,
this means you might not be able to clearly remember the person that has caused you that trauma.
However, the memories stored in the amygdala would most likely make you feel uneasy if you ever met them again,
although you would not be able to put your finger on why...

Coriolis - Last Voyage of the Ghazali 02: Suleiman

      Am 18.09.2018 veröffentlicht
Under Suleiman the Magnificient, who ruled from 1522 to 1566, the Ottoman Empire reached its apex,
conquering Belgrade and most of Hungary until finally being stopped at the gates of Vienna.
The Ottoman fleets dominated the Mediterranean and reached as far the Indian Ocean.
The empire also went through a golden age of culture and literature under Suleiman's competent watch.

He went against tradition and married a Christian woman from his harem, made famous in the west as Roxelana and said to have had red hair.
At the time of his death the Ottoman Empire dominated much of the Middle East and the North African coastline
and had made Moldavia, Crimea, Transylvania and Wallachia into vassals of the Empire.

Coriolis - Last Voyage of the Ghazali 03: Molossus (Sci-fi RPG, Actual Play)

        Am 25.09.2018 veröffentlicht
The Molossus is a now extinct breed of dogs that are believed to be the ancestors of today’s Mastiff-type dogs.
Originally a sheep-herding dog used in ancient Epirus (today parts of Albania and Greece) these vicious and muscular dogs were described by the poet Grattius thus
”...when serious work has come, when bravery must be shown, and the impetuous War-gods calls in the utmost hazard, then you could not but admire the renowned Molossians so much”.

The powerful dogs were used in Epirotan tribal wars and later also by the Roman Empire under Marcus Aurelius.
The dogs were trained specifically for battle by the Romans and given spiked metal collars and mail armor.
The Romans are even said to have gone so far as to arranging the dogs in attack formations before unleashing them upon their enemies.
